This skid mounted, self contained, Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) utilizes three electric driven, variable displacement vane pumps to provide operating pressures to 1,000 psi and variable flow up to 110 GPM, for a 55 ft long telescoping hydraulic cylinder. Utilizing heavy-duty industrial components, the HPU is designed for high reliability and long service life.

The electric motor driven pumps have solenoid selection of loading / unloading, and are connected to a common welded pressure header through check and isolation valves. An accumulator provides surge demands. Each pump outlet has a full flow two-micron abs pressure filter to achieve the required ISO 17/15/12 class filtration. A separate circulation loop is included for cooling to maintain 110-deg. F oil temperature and additional filtration.

Each pump/electric motor group is mounted on vibration isolators with flexible hoses and inline suppressors to reduce noise level below 78 DBA. The "L" shaped reservoir/base weldment also forms the drip pan and includes lifting slots and mounting holes. The "L" shaped configuration provides a positive fluid pressure head from the 600-gallon reservoir to the pump inlets.

Pressure and flow requirements vary as the telescopic cylinder inter-stages and as the cylinder extension retraction speeds change between 5 and 10 ft/min. with different loads. A single electro-hydraulic proportional valve, located adjacent to the cylinder, is controlled through a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). As the flow demand changes during cylinder motion, the pump pressure controls automatically adjust flow rate to meet the programmed valve demands.
